Welcome to the auction of a absolutely guaranteed original restored to exceedingly attractive condition American 14 by 22 inch 1934 window card size movie poster for THE PAINTED VEIL. THE WINDOW CARD YOU WILL BE SENT IS THE ACTUAL EXAMPLE IN THE PHOTO’S. Incredibly vibrant and bright unaltered colors . The card was found inside of a frame where it was used as a backing board, and it had been trimmed to 12″ x 16″. YOU CAN SEE THE PRE-RESTORATION APPEARANCE IN THE BOTTOM PHOTO. But fortunately, it did not affect the image of Garbo, and it only affected the “O” of “GARBO” and the “D” of “PAINTED”. There were tears and areas of paper loss in the left border and a 4″ tear near the middle of the right border and a 5″ tear near the center of the top border. Window card’s back then were a sheet of paper glued to a thick low quality paper backing , the paper was lifted from the card , a extremely expensive labor intensive job costing three hundred dollars and was re-backed with another excellent condition original early 1930’s window card’s thick paper backing that I myself provided (so I knew and could represent it was 1930’s in origin for sure) to the restorer (JAIME MENDEZ , the best restorer in the world in Oceanside, CA.) . He then lifted the card’s original paper and replaced it with the THE PAINTED VEIL poster . Then replaced the missing artwork which no matter how close you look you cannot tell has even been done. Altogether a process costing a fortune , which is why so few window card’s are ever restored. The Painted Veil, the 1934 Richard Boleslawski directed romantic love triangle film (“‘Do not pass love by… it may never come again'”; from the novel by W. Somerset Maugham ) stars Greta Garbo, Herbert Marshall, George Brent, Warner Oland, and Jean Hersholt. Add $12 for shipping and handling to your winning bid.
